There will never be enough words to describe this amazing experience. When Daryoosh and the Alumni said “the others will not understand how you feel even if you will try to explain it to them” I didn’t believe them, but now I know what they meant. It’s really difficult to speak about this experience to the ones that have not lived it. I would like to share my feelings with my friends but that’s quite impossible because I felt such strong feelings that are impossible to describe. I spent 2 fantastic weeks with over 60 students from all over the world. Or better, at the beginning they were 60 students but now they are friends! I had never been to a place where people of so many different cultures could gather. I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to take part to the WSF07. I’ve learned so many things!! First of all, I must be sincere, I had some prejudices against certain cultures; it’s with great pleasure that I can say that now I don’t have any prejudice any more. The Forum helped me a lot in this. Staying in contact with people from all over the world was amazing, it was a great opportunity to open up my mind and enrich my culture. In addition the Forum was in Japan; I have always dreamed of going to Japan. In this way I got in touch with the Japanese culture and tried the Japanese food. Eating with chopstick was difficult at the beginning but then it was easier and now I really miss them! Food was also the topic of our group discussions. The topic of my group was “food mobility and availability”; I didn’t know anything about this topic before the Forum. Anyway after some researches I gathered up lots of information. Thank also to the other group presentations I know that we can really do something to make the world a better place. Anyway we can’t do it alone, the group is really important to achieve a goal. That’s another thing I have learned from the WS: alone we can’t do almost anything, but if everyone does just a little thing we can make the difference. It could sound strange but I really feel that something has changed in my life. I’m really proud of this because I know that it has changed in better. I will never forget the WS, I will never forget the people I met there, I will try to keep in contact with as many people as possible and I will try to make the things I have learned come true.

2 weeks, 5 continents, 20 nations and more than 60 students, that is for me the World School Forum, it is a meeting as well as an opportunity for many students to compare their lives and culture. It is a moment when differences in habits, costumes, traditions, uses, prejudices and distrusts are far away. It is an union based on the dialogue, because everybody tries to speak and to understand the others. During these two weeks I learnt to understand and to appreciate advantage from differences instead of criticising them. I learnt also how to stay and live with other people and above all I made many new friendships and I really hope to keep in touch with all these new friends and to see them again in the future. The hardest moment was the last day when the World School Forum finished and when I had to sat goodbye to all my friends, because the idea of coming back to everyday life and not to see all of them for a long time was terrible. It undoubtedly was an experience that I will never forget and that probably has changed my life, too. Now I feel to be more open-minded. I would suggest everybody should join the World School Forum if they had the opportunity; it is a wonderful experience that teaches a lot about foreign cultures and that could change many aspect of one’s own life.

This year I was one of the three students who have to represent our school in the world school forum! I was really proud of that, because this experience was simply wonderful….I’ve always dreamt to go to Japan (I’ve been studying Japanese language and culture since 2004) and this was the opportunity I was waiting for! Before the beginning of the world school each nation had to prepare a country presentation and get information about the topic of this year (food and health: an awareness). At ws we had to present the work we made on power point on our country’s culture and food habits to the other members and listen to the other states’ presentations. Moreover we took part in some conferences about Japanese food culture. When we collected all the information about all nations’ food habits, we were divided in many groups that had the task to work on a particular subtopic!!! This was really interesting because each one was in group with students of other countries and had the opportunity to analyze his subtopic from different point of view, due to the particular background that each of us had. After that we were asked to do a presentation, sharing what we found, with all ws members… From the discussion of the topic we had the confirm that we are lucky and that there are a lot of problems related to food in the world we can’t even think to change alone, but if we discuss with other, open dialogue and collaborate together we can manage it and do something that can really make the difference!!! In my opinion the most beautiful things of the forum was the relationship that we get with other students…. None of us couldn’t even imagine that we would create such strong relationships with them!!! We are still keeping in touch, sending e-mail each day and it’s wonderful!!! We started discussing on the topic thanks to the forum, then we continued knowing each other day by day and today we are keeping updated on our lives… That’s really important because we have the unique opportunity to chat with guys from all over the world and opening discussion on our problems, our feeling, our every-day lives and have wider horizons that allow us to live in a better way our every day lives (for example: the problem we think insuperable from another point of view, that comes from another cultural background, could sound easy to solve!): now we know that there will be always a place “where we can stand as one”.
